Portland Auto Insurance Quote Guide

Ready to talk? Choose Jeff Guettler or Matt Schoenecker. Ask your chosen agent about home and auto together.

Choose an agent

Looking for an auto insurance quote in Portland? Start with the decisions that shape a useful conversation: who drives, what you drive, how the vehicle is used, and which coverage limits and deductibles you want to compare.

Learn more about Home Insurance, Combined Policies, read our Coverage Questions, or visit the Insurance Resources Hub. All information is accessible without needing to start a quote.

Start with Oregon requirements

Oregon requires every car to be covered by automobile insurance. A local agent can explain the limits and options that apply to your request.

Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability

Ask how liability limits respond when you are legally responsible for injuries or property damage, and compare the limits shown on each quote rather than looking at price alone.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Ask the agent to explain the personal injury protection shown on the quote, including its limits, eligible expenses, and exclusions.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Review how uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage is presented and what conditions apply before choosing a policy.

What to have ready for an auto quote

Drivers

Names, dates of birth, licensing details, and a clear picture of who regularly drives each vehicle.

Vehicles

Year, make, model, ownership or financing status, annual mileage, and typical use such as commuting or personal driving.

Current policy

Your current declarations page can help you compare limits, deductibles, and optional coverages consistently.

Priorities

Decide whether you want to discuss cost, coverage changes, a new vehicle, a new driver, or another upcoming change.

What can affect an auto insurance quote?

Insurers use their own filed rating and underwriting rules. Common inputs can include driving history, drivers, vehicle characteristics, use, location, selected limits, deductibles, and optional coverage choices. Oregon DFR notes that insurers review driving records and that premiums can reflect the prior three years of that record.

Common Portland auto quote questions

Does My Quote PDX show an instant price?

No. My Quote PDX does not generate quotes. Use the official Farmers website for the agent you choose, or call that agent.

Will my request go to several agencies?

No. My Quote PDX does not collect your request. You choose one of two named agents and contact them directly.

Can I ask about home and auto together?

Ask your chosen agent about home and auto together, or review the home and auto guide. Any multi-policy terms depend on the insurer and are not guaranteed.

Optional Protections to Consider

Collision Coverage

Pays for damage to your vehicle resulting from a collision with another car or object, regardless of fault.

Comprehensive Coverage

Covers damage to your vehicle caused by events other than a collision, such as theft, vandalism, fire, or falling objects (like tree branches).

Home + Auto checklist: general questions

  • A short list of what you are unsure about, so the call stays focused
  • Current auto declarations page, if you have one
  • Current homeowners declarations page, if you have one
  • Drivers in the household: names, license details and driving history, to share with your agent only
  • Vehicles: year, make, model and VIN, to share with your agent only
  • How each vehicle is used and roughly how many miles it is driven a year
  • The liability limits, deductibles and options you want to ask about
  • Year built, approximate size and construction type
  • Roof age and type, plus plumbing, electrical and heating system details
  • Recent updates or repairs, with approximate dates
  • How the property is used and the coverage questions you want answered

Three questions to ask

  1. What should I understand about this coverage before I decide whether to get a quote?
  2. Can you show the home and auto proposals separately and together so I can compare complete proposals?
  3. What does the proposal exclude, and what are the deductibles for each type of loss?

General preparation only. This is not a quote or policy recommendation, and it does not calculate prices, recommend coverage limits or determine eligibility. Confirm details with your chosen licensed agent.

Helpful answers

Can I get an insurance price on MyQuotePDX?

MyQuotePDX does not calculate insurance prices. Choose a local agent and continue to their official Farmers page, or call them to discuss a quote.

Who will receive my information?

The agent buttons do not collect your contact details on MyQuotePDX. You choose whom to contact. Information you provide on an external website or by phone is handled by that provider.

Can I compare several insurance companies?

The online links go to each agent's official Farmers page. For other carrier options, ask your chosen agent what is available for your situation. MyQuotePDX does not compare the whole market.

Is combining home and auto always cheaper?

No savings are guaranteed. Compare the complete proposals, including total cost, limits, deductibles, and options.

How quickly will I receive a quote?

Timing depends on the agent's availability and the information needed. Contact your selected agency for its current response expectations.

Does clicking a button start my coverage?

No. Opening an agent's page or calling the agency does not itself put insurance in force. Confirm your policy details and effective date with the agent or insurer.
