What should I bring to an insurance conversation?
Bring your current declarations page if you have one, basic details about the vehicles or home, anything that changed recently, and a short list of questions. The agent or official quote process will say exactly what is needed.
Why these items
The NAIC explains that an auto declarations page shows effective dates, vehicles, any lienholder, coverages, limits and premiums, while the full policy form explains covered terms, conditions and exclusions. If something is unclear, it suggests asking the agent or insurer (NAIC, declarations pages).
For homes, the NAIC lists age, construction, roof and home systems as information insurers may ask about, and advises reading the policy contract for terms, limitations and options (NAIC, homeowners insurance). Oregon DFR notes that auto policies vary and suggests asking the agent or insurer to verify timing and exceptions, for example when adding a new vehicle (Oregon DFR, auto FAQs).
What to have ready
Home + Auto checklist: general questions
- A short list of what you are unsure about, so the call stays focused
- Current auto declarations page, if you have one
- Current homeowners declarations page, if you have one
- Drivers in the household: names, license details and driving history, to share with your agent only
- Vehicles: year, make, model and VIN, to share with your agent only
- How each vehicle is used and roughly how many miles it is driven a year
- The liability limits, deductibles and options you want to ask about
- Year built, approximate size and construction type
- Roof age and type, plus plumbing, electrical and heating system details
- Recent updates or repairs, with approximate dates
- How the property is used and the coverage questions you want answered
Three questions to ask
- What should I understand about this coverage before I decide whether to get a quote?
- Can you show the home and auto proposals separately and together so I can compare complete proposals?
- What does the proposal exclude, and what are the deductibles for each type of loss?
General preparation only. This is not a quote or policy recommendation, and it does not calculate prices, recommend coverage limits or determine eligibility. Confirm details with your chosen licensed agent.

Reviews concern the office, not MyQuotePDX. Both Jeff offices share one phone number.
Choose a named participating Farmers agent, not a whole-market comparison service. Each office's Farmers page opens in a new tab; confirm the agent and office handling your request. A page opening or phone-link click is not a connected conversation, quote or policy purchase. Ask the agent what options they can discuss.
MyQuotePDX is a separate website from the agents. See how it works.
